Carol trained as a hairdresser upon leaving school and worked in several salons in the Coventry area, particularly at Nessie's Salon in Stoke Heath, Coventry. Carol realised her dream of owning her own salon in the 1980's when she took over Mops salon in Coundon. She loved running her own business and was never more at home than when chatting to her customers in the salon. Both Helen and Hazel her daughters helped in the salon from time to time, both of whom remember the smell of perming solution, the big wall mounted dryers and tight curlers favoured by the shampoo and set ladies who visited the salon.
